The seminar – Northern Dimension Network Meeting will take place in Riga on April 15-16 at the University of Latvia with approximately 20 high-level researchers participating and presenting their work.
The Northern Dimensions Network is a research network that was established with the aim of promoting higher research, supporting researchers and to conduct research on areas relating to the Northern Dimension, especially in regard to political, economic and legal aspects. The project has received EU funding for the period 2004-2005. The leader of the network is Professor Clive Archer from Manchester Metropolitan University.
The main theme of the conference is the role of the Northern Dimension in the context of the EU including impact of the human resources on the developments of knowledge-based economy and EU Neighborhood Policy. On behalf of the Nordic Research Board Dr.Phil.Indra Øverland will give a lecture on a new framework for Nordic research cooperation from NorFA to NordForsk.
Northern Dimensions Network involves the Regional and Transitional Research Group of ECSa National Associations and Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence. The Network representatives come from Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The conference is organized by the University of Latvia, Latvian European Community Studies Association, Manchester Metropolitan University and The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia.
