Tickets are available for the concert ‘Salutation to the Sun’ dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Nordic - Baltic Choral Festivals and in memory of their founder - the famous Latvian conductor Imants Kokars. It will be held on the opening day of the Festival - June 25 in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia. - songs the authors of which are PÄ“teris Barisons, Antons Brukners, Pauls Dambis, LÅ«cija GarÅ«ta, JurjÄnu Andrejs, AlfrÄ“ds Kalniņš, Imants Kalniņš, Juris Karlsons, Luka Marencio, Emilis Melngailis, Raimonds Pauls, PÄ“teris Plakidis, Urmass Sisasks, Georgijs Sviridovs, Imants Ramiņš, Rihards VÄgners, JÄzeps VÄ«tols and others. Artistic director of the concert - MÄrtiņš KliÅ¡Äns. More than ten outstanding Latvian conductors – Imants Kokars’ students and chief conductors of the festivals - will take their place at the podium, including JÄnis Baltiņš, Aira Birziņa, Uldis Kokars, Roberts Liepiņš, Edgars RaÄevskis, MÄris Sirmais, Ints Teterovskis, Andris Veismanis, JÄnis Zirnis and others. Price of the tickets for this concert - 15 EUR. The closing concert of the Festival,which will also be the final event of the public diplomacy and culture programme of the Latvian Presidency, will take place on June 28, at 17:00 in Mežaparks Open-air Stage in Riga. The concert programme will consist of brilliant compositions that have been performed in the previous Nordic-Baltic Choral Festivals, as well as several new songs from all the countries taking part in the Festival. The united Nordic-Baltic choir will sing parts from the famous cantata by Carl Orff Carmina Burana, which will become the grandest performance of this composition in the world. Tickets for the final concert cost from 3 to 10 EUR.
Tickets for the June 27 concert in Cēsis Castle Park Open-air Stage cost 3 EUR, for children, students, pensioners and Cēsis ‘Friend Card’ holders - 1 EUR.
Entrance to other festival concerts will be free.
During the festival, at the Exhibition Hall ‘Riga Art Space’ there will be opened an exhibition ‘Signs of the Latvian Soul’ devoted to Latvian folk costumes and the Song and Dance Celebration tradition. Folk costumes of Scandinavian and Baltic countries will supplement the exposition. Entrance fee to the Exhibition Hall ‘Riga Art Space’ - 5 EUR, for pupils and students 2.50 EUR, Seniors Club members - 3 EUR.
