On 7-8 June the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia jointly organize a discussion on the Nordic Council of Ministers’ (NCM) co-operation with the Baltic countries and on the future NCM guidelines with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.Â
Participating in the discussion are representatives from the NCM Secretariat and NCM offices in the Baltic countries, representatives from the Baltic and Nordic ministries of foreign affairs as well as Nordic ambassadors to the Baltic countries.Â
The present-day activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers with regard to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are directed by the guidelines adopted by the Nordic Ministers for Co-operation on 13 November 2008. These guidelines, effective for the period 2009-2013, set up the main priorities for the NCM co-operation and regulate the way in which this work is being developed.
The guidelines are designed to underpin the activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers and should be seen as a starting point for further development of joint ambitions and activities.
The multilateral partnership between the Nordic Council of Ministers and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania must be a politically focused co-operation on equal terms.
