The common Nordic Library week takes place for the 8th time this year coordinated by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia.
The time of the event on this occasion will be November 14-20, the main theme being: “On the Trip across the Nordic Countries”. This year the chapter “Two Towns” from Selma Lagerlöf's popular book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson is to be read.
Each year a fragment of a certain literary work of a Nordic author is chosen and read in schools, libraries and other cultural institutions in various parts of the Nordic countries. The Nordic Library weeks have taken place in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia since 1998. The great attendance of the events shows a growing interest, gathering more and more participants each year.
Last year the texts from the Danish author H.C. Andersen’s fairytales were read, bringing magic into the almost every village in Latvia.
