On 22nd – 23rd of October 2009, the National Film Centre of Latvia in co-operation with the Danish Cultural Institute in Riga organizes the very first Riga Meetings forum - a special meeting platform for film industry professionals.
The forum brings together Baltic and Nordic film institution representatives, policy makers, producers, distributors and filmmakers for establishing new regional network and promoting more efficient usage of regional resources on all levels - from policy making to film production and distribution. Riga Meetings is taking place simultaneously with the X Nordic Film Days.
Riga Meetings will present an overview of the film policy landscape in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The best practices, challenges and problems of filmmaking in the region will be discussed and the potential of regional resources will be examined.
The opening speech will be delivered by the Latvian Minister of Culture Mr. Ints Dālderis. Among 30 foreign producers and film institution representatives taking part in the forum, one may highlight the following key note speakers: Ms. Noemi Ferrer, a representative of the renowned Danish production company Zentropa, Mr. Christian Have, the managing director of the Scandinavian PR company Have PR & Communication, and Ms. Bronagh Walton representing the European Commission.Riga Meetings forum is financially supported by the joint Nordic-Baltic Mobility program for Business and Industry.
